Using a new phone for two-factor authentication

The Google Authenticator application for two-factor authentication is linked to the phone of a specific user. When a merchant changes their phone, they would need to download Google Authenticator and set up two-factor authentication again on their new phone. Two scenarios are possible:

Scenario 1: Previous phone is still accessible

If a merchant can still log in to the Curlec portal with their previous phone, they can view their QR code and scan it again using their new phone following these steps:

  1. Go to the top right of the screen, click on the gear icon.

  2. Select “Show 2-Factor Auth Setup”.

  3. Click on “Yes” in the pop-up window.

  4. Log out.

  5. Enter the username and password. Click “Login”.

  6. Scan the QR code using Google Authenticator on the new phone.

Scenario 2: Previous phone is inaccessible

If a merchant does not have access to their previous phone and could not log in, they must first contact their account admin (the admin who created their Curlec user account). The admin would need to perform the following steps.

  1. Click on the main menu.

  2. Select “Settings” - “User management”.

  3. Click on the QR code icon on the rightmost side of the user (merchant) of interest.

  4. Click on “Yes” in the pop-up window.

  5. The QR code would be shown the next time the user (merchant) logs in.

Note that the first merchant admin created by us is considered the ‘Super User’ who can show the QR code of all users for resetting purposes.
