What is recurring card payment?

Curlec offers services for merchants to collect recurring payments from customers through credit/debit cards. These transactions are processed through card processing networks, ie. MasterCard and Visa.

Currently, Curlec only settles card payments in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and therefore other currencies would need to be converted into MYR for payment collection.

To set up recurring payments via a credit/debit card, your customers need to complete a one-time 3D Secure verification. 3D Secure is a protocol that verifies the authenticity of cardholders when they make a transaction. Curlec only accepts MasterCard/Visa cards that are enrolled with 3D Secure. At checkout, your customers will be redirected to a secured page where they will be asked to enter an OTP sent to their phone. Although this involves an additional step in the checkout process, it is an essential security measure to reduce fraud cases.

Once the verification is complete, your customer’s card details will be tokenised and stored in Curlec's system. This setup process is immediate. In the future, you can use the unique tokens to collect recurring payments from your customers without going through the verification process again. Additionally, your customers do not have to worry about security issues because their card details are not stored by you or Curlec. This confidential information will only be held by Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS).
